ISPB Inaugural Session on Age-Related Macular Degeneration

The ISPB is pleased to announce that our inaugural session for the Macular Degeneration Network – Illinois was held on Nov. 14, 2000, at the Glenview Senior Center.

Sanford Meyers, M.D., professor of ophthalmology at the University of Chicago Medical School and Charles M. Vygantas, M.D., a member of the ISPB board of directors, presented a program on age-related macular degeneration, followed by a question and answer period.

Dorothy Mertz, Program Chairman, Glenview Senior Center and Sanford Meyers, M.D., holding the new ISPB resource booklet.

At the close of the program a copy of the newly written ISPB resource booklet, a synopsis of the lecture and other informative materials were passed out to more than 60 in attendance. The booklet, concentrating on our eyes and vision loss, is an excellent guide for Illinois resources.

More sessions are in the planning stages for 2001 at various senior centers.

ISPB board president David Webster thanked Dr. Vygantas for his ongoing efforts in coordinating this program.
