Community Health Charities of Illinois

The Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness (ISPB) is one of the thirty-eight member health charities of the Community Health Charities of Illinois (CHC/IL). Like the local United Way, which raises funds on behalf of locally based social service organizations, CHC/IL is the “United Way of Health,” which raises funds through voluntary contributions at the workplace. Payroll deduction is easy and convenient and provides recognition to the employer. If you designate your donation to a particular charity, 100 percent of your donation is received by them. For more information call the CHC/IL at (312) 939-6275.

James A. McKechnie, Jr. has been chair of CHC/IL for many years (shown in photograph, center). In that capacity, he presented at the annual meeting the “Apple of Our Eye” Award to Ill. State Sen. Dave Sullivan – R (left) and Ill. State Rep. Joe Lyons – D (right) for their commitment and dedication to charitable work place campaigns.
