Taking a Trip to the Mardi Gras?If you plan to attend the Mardi Gras in New Orleans this February, just a word to the wise: “Be Aware of Flying Objects” — mainly those thrown from passing floats during the parades. Did you know that 16 to 20 eye-related injuries are treated in nearby hospital emergency rooms?
Take your sunglasses with the polycarbonate lenses with you on your trip! Have fun, but protect your eyes at the same time (Source: “Dr. Sandra,” Courier, Lincoln, Ill., Feb. 9, 2001). The Visionary , published as a service of the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness,is available upon request. The information contained in this issue, taken from sources considered to be accurate, does not replace the need for professional eye care consultations and treatments.
