Taking a Trip to the Mardi Gras?

If you plan to attend the Mardi Gras in New Orleans this February, just a word to the wise: “Be Aware of Flying Objects” — mainly those thrown from passing floats during the parades.

Did you know that 16 to 20 eye-related injuries are treated in nearby hospital emergency rooms?

Eye injuries could include lid lacerations, ocular hemorrhages or corneal abrasions, just to name a few.

Take your sunglasses with the polycarbonate lenses with you on your trip! Have fun, but protect your eyes at the same time (Source: “Dr. Sandra,” Courier, Lincoln, Ill., Feb. 9, 2001).
