September 2023 Newsletter From ISPB & PBIL

Sport’s Eye Safety Month

New ANNUAL DATA from ISPB and PBIL shows that there were more than 32,000 sports-related eye injuries treated in the United States last year, an increase of almost 20 percent from the previous year. To educate the public on the risk of significant and potentially blinding eye injuries and the need for proper eye protection, we have declared September as Sports Eye Safety Month.

Thank you Arden!

Our intern Arden Perry’s time with us is coming to an end. She has been instrumental in our highly successful summer!

Arden earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health in August. At ISPB/PBIL, her focus was eye health communication and content development. She hopes to continue her education by pursuing a dual degree: a Master of Public Health and Juris Doctor.

Best of luck with your future Arden!

It’s important to get your child’s sight checked as the school year begins. Children with vision problem’s often struggle in school and get lower grades because they cannot read the information written on the board.
